Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what personal data IonGrid collects when you visit iongrid.io, open an account and buy hashrate, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It describes the service as it works today, and we will update it when that changes.

1. Who we are

IonGrid (iongrid.io) is operated by Segments Cloud Computing LLC, Office 2712, Concord Tower, Dubai, UAE. Segments Cloud Computing LLC decides how and why the personal data described in this policy is used, and is responsible for it.

For any question about this policy or your data, email hello@iongrid.io.

2. What we collect and why

Account details. When you open an account we collect your email address and, depending on how you sign up, a username, a display name and a password. We store passwords only as salted hashes, never in readable form. If you sign in with a link sent by email, we use your email address to send it. If you use Google sign-in where it is offered, Google shares your email address, whether Google has verified it, and your name with us. We never see your Google password. We use these details to create your account, sign you in and keep it secure.

Billing profile. You can choose to add your full name, company, billing address and country to your profile. We show them as the bill-to details on your invoices, and you can change them at any time in your dashboard.

Orders and pool details. When you place an order we record what you ordered (volume, duration, order type and price) and the mining pool you want the hashrate pointed at: the pool address and port, your pool username or worker name, and the pool password if you set one. We use this to deliver the hashrate, measure delivery and bill you.

Balance, deposits and invoices. We keep a ledger of your balance: deposits, charges for delivered hashrate, setup fees, refunds and adjustments, together with your daily invoices. To fund your account we give you a Bitcoin deposit address and record the payments it receives and their confirmation status.

Support conversations. If you open a ticket in your dashboard or email us, we keep your messages, the email address they came from and the ticket history. Email sent to hello@iongrid.io, or to any other iongrid.io address, is received by our email provider and forwarded to our support inbox, whether or not you have an account. If you ask for a refund, the details you give us, such as the address to send it to, are kept with the ticket.

Emails we send. We send the emails needed to run your account: sign-in links, a welcome message, password change notices, deposit and order updates, refund confirmations and support replies. If you open a deposit address but have not funded it after a while, we may send you one reminder.

Security records. When you sign in we create a session and store your browser’s user agent with it, along with when it was last used. We also record your IP address and user agent with account events such as sign-ups, sign-ins, failed sign-in attempts, sign-outs, creating a deposit address and changing an order’s price. When a sign-in fails, we record the email address or username that was tried and the IP address, so we can temporarily lock out repeated guessing. We delete those records once they are no longer needed for that.

Server logs. Our servers and hosting infrastructure may record technical details of the requests they receive, such as the IP address, browser user agent, the address requested, the referring page, the time and the response. We use these logs to run, secure and troubleshoot the service.

Identity checks. Bitcoin-only use below a threshold does not require identity verification (KYC). Larger fiat-equivalent volumes do. If this applies to you, we will explain at onboarding what we need and how it is handled.

4. Cookies, browser storage and analytics

We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage:

  • Session cookie (hi_session). Keeps you signed in. It is set only when you sign in, cannot be read by scripts on the page, and expires after 14 days or when you sign out. Signing in does not work without it.
  • Account cache (session storage). While you are signed in, your browser keeps a copy of your basic account details for the current tab so pages load faster. It is cleared when you close the tab.
  • Solo mining budget (local storage). If you set a monthly budget on the solo mining page, it is saved in your browser, with a running total for the month, so it is still there when you come back.
  • Google Analytics cookies, described below.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. It does not load when a page first opens. It starts only after you interact with the page (scroll, click, tap, type or move the mouse) or switch away from the tab. Once loaded, it sets Google’s analytics cookies (such as _ga) and sends Google standard information from your browser, such as your IP address, your device and browser type, the pages you view and the page that referred you. We also send events such as signing up, starting a checkout, placing an order (including the order’s size, value and an internal order reference) and clicking links to Segments S23. We do not send your name or email address to Google Analytics.

Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use a tracker blocker, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking Google Analytics does not affect the service. Blocking all cookies stops you from signing in.

Google sign-in. Where Google sign-in is offered, your browser loads Google’s sign-in script from Google when you open the login page. Google handles that under its own privacy policy.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal data only where it is needed to run the service:

  • Cloud hosting. Our servers and database run on infrastructure provided by a cloud hosting company.
  • Email delivery. Resend sends our emails, and receives email sent to our domain and passes it to us.
  • Analytics. Google, through Google Analytics, as described above.
  • Payment processing for deposits. A payment processing service generates your Bitcoin deposit address and tells us when payments arrive. We give it an internal account reference and the deposit amount, not your name or email address.
  • Sign-in. Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Hashrate suppliers. To deliver an order, we pass your pool connection details (pool address, port, username or worker name, and pool password) to the suppliers we source hashrate from, so they can point it at your pool.
  • Your mining pool. The hashrate you buy is sent to the pool you nominate. Before an order starts, we may connect to that pool to check that it accepts your login. Your pool operator handles data under its own terms.

We may also disclose personal data when the law requires it, to protect our rights, our users or the public, to professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, or to a buyer or successor if our business is transferred. We do not sell your personal data.

6. Bitcoin and public blockchains

Bitcoin transactions, including deposits to your address and any refunds we send, are recorded on a public blockchain that anyone can view. We cannot change or delete those records.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account, order, billing and support records are kept while your account is open, and afterwards for as long as we need them for accounting, tax, legal and dispute purposes.
  • Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes and work only once. Sessions end when you sign out or after 14 days.
  • Security records, such as the log of account events, are kept for a limited period. They may be kept after an account is closed so we can investigate misuse.
  • Server logs are kept for a limited period.
  • Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of our Google Analytics account.

8. Security

Measures we use to protect your data include:

  • HTTPS on every connection to iongrid.io.
  • Passwords stored only as salted hashes.
  • Sign-in links and session tokens stored only in hashed form. Sign-in links expire quickly and work once.
  • A session cookie that scripts on the page cannot read.
  • Rate limits and temporary lockouts against password guessing.
  • Signing out every session on an account when its password is changed.
  • Admin tools restricted to authorised staff accounts.

No system is completely secure. If you think your account has been misused, email hello@iongrid.io straight away.

9. International transfers

We are based in the UAE, and our service providers may process data in other countries, including wherever their servers are located. Data protection laws there may differ from those where you live. We share only what each provider needs to do its job.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct data that is wrong or incomplete (you can update your profile details yourself in the dashboard);
  • ask us to delete your data, or to close your account;
  • object to how we use your data.

To use any of these rights, email hello@iongrid.io from the address on your account. We may need to confirm your identity first. Some data we must keep even if you ask us to delete it, such as accounting records, and records on the public blockchain cannot be removed by anyone. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first. You may also be able to complain to a data protection authority.

11. Children

IonGrid is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change, for example if we add a service provider or an analytics tool, and we will change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will let account holders know, for example by email or with a notice in the dashboard.
