Terms of Service

Last updated:

These terms govern your use of iongrid.io and the IonGrid hashrate service. Please read them carefully: they explain how funding, billing and refunds work, limit our liability, and set the law that applies.

1. About these terms

IonGrid (iongrid.io) is operated by Segments Cloud Computing LLC, Office 2712, Concord Tower, Dubai, UAE (“IonGrid”, “we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and us. By opening an account, placing an order or otherwise using the service, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

If you use IonGrid on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for it, and “you” includes that organisation.

2. Who can use IonGrid

To use IonGrid, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract;
  • not be the subject of sanctions imposed by the United Nations, the UAE or any other authority whose sanctions apply to you or to us, and not be owned or controlled by anyone who is;
  • not be located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions;
  • use the service only where doing so is lawful for you, and not on behalf of anyone who does not meet these requirements.

We may refuse to open an account or accept an order.

3. The service

IonGrid sells SHA-256 (Bitcoin) hashrate on a self-serve basis. You fund a balance in BTC, place orders, and we point the hashrate you buy at the Stratum mining pool you nominate. Depending on availability, order types include flexible orders, fixed terms, name-your-price orders and solo mining.

Mining rewards are paid by your pool, under your pool’s rules, directly to your own wallet or pool account. We never receive, hold or pay out your mining rewards.

We source the hashrate we sell from suppliers of our choosing and may change them at any time. We may add, change or withdraw features and order types.

4. Your account

  • Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password and your email inbox secure. Sign-in links are sent by email, so anyone with access to your inbox may be able to sign in to your account.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us straight away at hello@iongrid.io if you think someone else has used it.

5. Funding your balance

You fund your balance by sending BTC to the deposit address shown in your dashboard. A deposit is credited once the payment has been confirmed. A minimum deposit may apply.

Send only BTC, on the Bitcoin network, to the address we show you. Payments in other assets, on other networks or to the wrong address may be lost, and we may not be able to recover them.

Your balance is prepaid credit for the service. It is not a bank account or a deposit, and it does not earn interest. You can ask for your unused balance back at any time (see Refunds).

6. Quotes, pricing and orders

Our prices are set from the live IonGrid Index plus a published margin. Before you place an order, we show you a quote, and the order page explains how that order type is priced.

Name-your-price orders run at the rate you set and are filled only when hashrate is available within that rate, so they may deliver less than you ordered, or nothing. If you change the rate during an order, the change applies only from then on.

Placing an order authorises us to charge your balance for it. Minimum order sizes and durations may apply. We may decline or cancel an order, for example if your balance does not cover it, your pool cannot accept it, or we suspect misuse. If we cancel an order, you pay only for hashrate already delivered and fees already charged.

7. Billing and invoices

We bill for the hashrate actually delivered to your pool. Charges are drawn from your balance and shown on daily invoices in your dashboard. Each order also carries a one-time setup fee, charged from your balance when the order starts.

Prices and charges are in BTC. Any US dollar figures we show are for reference only. If your balance runs out, we may stop delivery under your orders.

8. How delivery is measured

Delivered hashrate is measured at your pool. Hashrate naturally varies from minute to minute, and figures can differ between sources, such as your pool’s dashboard and ours, because of share luck, reporting intervals and rejected or stale shares. Delivery can also pause, for example if your pool is unreachable or rejects the work.

You are billed only for hashrate that is delivered, and we do not guarantee a constant rate. If you think a measurement is wrong, tell us promptly through support with the details, and we will look into it.

9. Refunds

You can ask for a refund of your unused balance, in BTC, at any time by opening a request in the Support section of your dashboard. Refunds are processed manually by our support desk and sent to a Bitcoin address you provide. Please check the address carefully, because Bitcoin payments cannot be reversed.

Charges for hashrate already delivered, and fees already charged, are not refundable unless we credit them back to your balance.

10. Your pool and wallet

You are responsible for:

  • nominating a pool you are entitled to use, and entering its details correctly: address, port, username or worker name, and password;
  • making sure your pool can accept rented hashrate at the volume you order. Some pools, particularly small or hobbyist solo pools, cannot accept hashrate at this scale;
  • setting and checking the payout wallet addresses at your pool, and keeping your pool account secure.

We may decline a pool that cannot accept rented hashrate, including pools we have seen fail before. Before an order starts, we may check that your pool accepts your login, but passing that check does not guarantee that the pool will keep accepting the hashrate. We are not responsible for losses caused by incorrect pool details, your pool’s outages or policies, or wrong wallet addresses.

11. No guarantee of mining rewards

Buying hashrate does not guarantee any amount of bitcoin. What you earn depends on network difficulty, transaction fees, your pool’s payout method, luck and other things outside our control. Hashprice and the price of bitcoin can move sharply in either direction.

Solo mining is especially uncertain. You receive a reward only if your hashrate finds a block, and an order can end without finding one, in which case you receive nothing from it.

Calculators, simulators, projections and past results on our site are illustrations, not promises.

12. Identity verification

Bitcoin-only use below a threshold does not require identity verification (KYC). Larger fiat-equivalent volumes do, and we will explain what is needed at onboarding. We may pause your account until any required checks are complete.

13. Prohibited uses

You must not use IonGrid to:

  • break any law, launder money, finance terrorism or evade sanctions;
  • fund your balance with money from illegal activity;
  • point hashrate at systems you are not authorised to use, or use it to attack or disrupt any network or service;
  • probe, attack, overload or interfere with our systems, or get around our security, rate limits or access controls;
  • access the service by automated means in a way that places an unreasonable load on it;
  • misrepresent who you are, or use someone else’s account without permission.

14. Suspension and termination

You can stop using IonGrid at any time and ask for your unused balance back.

We may suspend or close your account, or cancel orders, if you breach these terms, if the law or an authority requires it, if we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse, or if we stop offering the service. Where the law allows, we will tell you why. When an account is closed, we will refund any unused balance unless the law prevents us from doing so.

Terms that by their nature should continue after your account closes, including those on billing, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law, continue to apply.

15. No financial or investment advice

Information on IonGrid, including the IonGrid Index, articles, calculators and estimates, is general information. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and it does not take your circumstances into account. An order buys a service: hashrate delivered to your pool. It is not a deposit or an investment product, and we do not promise any return. Consider getting independent advice before you buy.

16. Third-party services

The service relies on things we do not control, including your mining pool, your wallet, the Bitcoin network, our payment processor and, if you use it, Google sign-in. Each operates under its own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

Segments S23 is a separate token product offered on segments23.com under its own terms. IonGrid only links to it. These terms do not cover S23, and any purchase or use of S23 is governed by the terms on segments23.com.

17. Disclaimers

We work to keep IonGrid running well, but the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those stated in these terms, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, and we do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded by law.

18. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for lost profits, revenue, mining rewards, data or goodwill;
  • our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the three months before the event that gave rise to the claim. Fees means amounts charged to your balance, not deposits.

This limit does not reduce your right to a refund of your unused balance. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct or anything else that cannot be limited by law.

19. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Segments Cloud Computing LLC against claims, losses and reasonable costs, including legal fees, arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of any law or anyone else’s rights.

20. Governing law and disputes

These terms, and any dispute about them or the service, are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction. Before starting proceedings, please contact us at hello@iongrid.io so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

21. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and change the date at the top, and if a change is significant, we will let account holders know, for example by email or with a notice in the dashboard. Changes do not apply retroactively. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

22. General

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any terms shown when you place an order, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours to a successor to our business.
